Why would I choose a VND filter instead of a fixed ND filter?

A VND filter provides several light-reduction levels in one filter. It is more convenient when the lighting changes frequently or when you do not want to carry and replace multiple fixed ND filters.

What do “2–5 stops” and “ND4–ND32” mean?

They describe the same adjustment range. ND4 reduces light by 2 stops, while ND32 reduces it by 5 stops. Each additional stop halves the amount of light entering the lens.

When is this filter most useful?

It is designed mainly for daylight and bright outdoor filming. It helps when the image is overexposed or when you want to use a slower shutter speed without letting in too much light.

How does it help video look more natural?

In bright light, a camera may use a very fast shutter speed, making movement appear sharp or choppy. A VND filter reduces incoming light so you can select a slower shutter speed and retain more natural motion blur.

Does an ND8 filter make the shutter speed eight times slower?

Can I use it indoors or at night?

Usually, it is unnecessary in low light because it reduces the amount of light reaching the sensor. Remove the filter if the camera raises ISO excessively or the image becomes too dark.

Can a VND filter produce uneven dark areas?

Variable ND filters can show uneven polarization or an X-shaped dark pattern under certain lighting conditions, lens angles or extreme settings. If this occurs, rotate the filter toward a lower level or adjust the camera angle.

Will the filter change the color of the footage?

The optical glass is designed to maintain natural color, but minor color variation may occur depending on the selected density, lighting and camera settings. Adjust white balance in demanding shooting conditions.

Will it affect the gimbal?

The filter weighs 5.7 g and is designed for the Pocket 4 Pro. After installation, power on the camera and check that the gimbal moves freely before recording.
