The latest DJI Osmo 360 II release date update points to two separate milestones. Chinese technology media reported that reservations opened in China at 8:00 p.m. China Standard Time on August 7, while a Chinese-language report says a region-specific teaser on DJI’s Hong Kong website schedules an official reveal for August 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. GMT—equivalent to 8:00 p.m. in Hong Kong and mainland China.
The two dates are not necessarily contradictory. A reservation campaign can open before a formal product presentation. More importantly, a reveal time is not automatically an on-sale date, shipping date or worldwide release schedule.
When this article was updated, the reported Hong Kong teaser could not be located through a stable, publicly accessible DJI URL, and DJI’s global product site, Store, Media Center and Download Center still listed only the original Osmo 360. No global Osmo 360 II product page, price, complete specification sheet or confirmed shipping date had been located. We therefore describe August 13 as a reported official reveal time, not a confirmed global retail release date.
The strongest independently accessible product evidence remains the FCC record, including a user-manual exhibit listed as “DJI Osmo 360 II Quick Start Guide” under FCC ID 2ANDR-OQ0022512. On August 6, IT Home reported that DJI had announced an August 7, 8:00 p.m. reservation opening through its China channels. The article links to a DJI Weibo video, making the reservation notice more substantial than an anonymous leak.
A separate Chinese-language report says DJI’s Hong Kong website displayed a tagline translated as “All Around. All Epic.” and an August 13, 12:00 p.m. GMT reveal time. The report also describes an official social-media teaser containing 360-degree footage of mountain biking, dancing and skiing. These scenes indicate how DJI may position the camera, but they do not establish recording resolution, frame rate, stabilization performance, waterproofing or any other hardware specification.

The global DJI Media Center, DJI Store and DJI Download Center did not show an Osmo 360 II launch page or manual when this article was updated. Until a stable DJI teaser or product-page URL can be linked directly, the August 13 schedule should remain clearly attributed rather than presented as an independently verified global release date.

The clearest naming evidence appears in the FCC exhibit metadata. A user-manual file is titled:

This is strong evidence that DJI used Osmo 360 II internally for the product submitted for testing. The reported China reservation activity and Hong Kong teaser make the name more credible, but a stable global retail page had still not been published when this article was updated.

These reports establish that the device was tested for specific wireless transmissions. They do not confirm camera resolution, frame rates, image quality, waterproofing or operating time.

Notebookcheck, citing imagery associated with the regulatory filing, reported a battery label showing 2,150 mAh and 3.86 V. Those figures equal approximately 8.3 Wh.
For comparison, DJI’s official Osmo 360 specifications list a 1,950 mAh, 7.5 Wh battery for the first-generation camera. On capacity alone, 2,150 mAh would represent an increase of approximately 10%.
That does not establish a 10% increase in recording time. Runtime also depends on processing load, display use, thermal management, recording resolution, frame rate, wireless activity and firmware. Until DJI publishes standardized test results, the battery label should be treated as a capacity clue—not a performance claim.
It also does not prove that first-generation batteries, charging cases or chargers will be compatible with the new camera. A different capacity can be introduced in a physically compatible pack, but it can also accompany changes to dimensions, contacts, firmware or charging requirements.
Pre-launch reporting has discussed several possible upgrades. Most reports trace back to FCC imagery, prototype photographs or a small number of leak accounts rather than independent product testing.

Some reports have used the phrase “8K/60fps,” but no public DJI specification sheet currently supports it. Similarly, reports discussing NFC and prototype photographs largely trace back to the same leak chain. Repetition across several websites does not turn one leak into several independent confirmations.
The original Osmo 360 provides useful context, but its specifications should not be copied into a second-generation product table as if they were unchanged.
DJI officially lists the first-generation model with 1-inch 360-degree imaging, native 8K 360-degree video, 120MP panoramic photos, a magnetic quick-release ecosystem and a 1,950 mAh battery. Its body measures 61 × 36.3 × 81 mm and weighs 183 g. DJI also specifies 10 m waterproofing for the camera body under stated conditions.
None of those physical or environmental specifications has been confirmed for Osmo 360 II.

This comparison uses the official first-generation specifications only as a baseline. It is not a claim that the new camera will retain or exceed every feature
For accessory buyers and retailers, a visually similar camera can still create significant compatibility problems. A change of only a few millimeters may affect a fitted case, screen protector, lens cap or dive housing.
Wait for confirmation of the battery part number, external dimensions, contact layout and supported charging system. Capacity alone cannot establish cross-generation compatibility.
Screen size, active display area, corner radius, bezel shape and speaker or sensor openings all need to match. Do not list an existing screen protector as compatible based only on an apparent 2-inch display.

Dual-lens cameras require precise alignment around both lens assemblies. Any change to lens curvature, ring dimensions or locking geometry can affect fit and stitching performance.

These products are listed for the original Osmo 360. Their suitability for Osmo 360 II remains unverified until the new camera’s final dimensions and kit contents are known.
A dive housing is one of the highest-risk items to assume compatible. Lens alignment, sealing surfaces, button placement and internal volume must all be verified for the exact camera model.
Products using a standard 1/4-inch connection may have a better chance of working across generations than body-fitted accessories. However, the new camera’s bottom interface and magnetic mounting arrangement still need official confirmation or physical testing.

The answer depends on urgency rather than unverified specifications.
Buying the original Osmo 360 may make sense if you need a 360-degree camera now and its documented features meet your requirements. It already has official specifications, established accessories and known workflows.
Waiting may be more appropriate if you are not in a hurry, want to compare final image-quality and battery claims, or plan to purchase several body-specific accessories at the same time. With a reveal reported for August 13, buyers who can wait a few days may soon have better information. That date still does not establish when the camera will go on sale or ship globally.
Retailers should avoid accepting compatibility claims from suppliers unless those claims are supported by official dimensions, installation photographs or physical fit tests.
Before purchasing or listing Osmo 360 II accessories, request:
The exact compatible model name and model number.
Photographs showing the accessory installed on the production camera.
Confirmation that buttons, doors, microphones and mounting points remain accessible.
